Scott - Mary Miller

Source: Crawfordsville Weekly Journal, 11 December 1873

The subject of this sketch, Mrs. Mary E. Scott, wife of Thomas T. Scott, was born in Clinton county, Ohio, August 7, 1837, and died December 6, 1873, aged thirty-six years, three months, and twenty-nine days. She united in with the church and was baptized by Rev. Wm. Graham, about 10 years of age. She was a quiet, meek spirited Christian lady, a faithful wife and devoted mother. She had a severe attack of hemorrhage of the lungs September 17, since which time she has been gradually failing. Wednesday the 4th inst., she suddenly became much worse and sank rapidly till about 5 o'clock Saturday morning when she was released from her sufferings. Although she was off in the prime of life, the messenger, death, found her fully prepared for the change. She said when dying, to her weeping husband and children, "O do not weep for me: I am going to the Good World. You should rather rejoice that I will be so soon free from pain and suffering. Heaven is my home." A husband and seven children mourn their great loss. But they may meet again in the blissful home where parting shell be no more. Sister Scott was triumphantly sustained by God's grace in the dying hour. - thanks to Kim H
